Vibrant Verde

What colors are you drawn too? I gravitate towards timeless neutrals but once in awhile a touch of green makes its way in.

Elisa Uberti

A fellow ex-fashion person, Elisa Uberti now works in stoneware. Her pieces are comforting and feel familar to me. Looking forward to working with clay again.

Testa di Moro heads

Like everyone else I know, I was sucked into HBO series The White Lotus. What really stuck with me was the ceramic heads that kept showing up. The legend goes:

The story is very interesting: during the Moors domination in Sicily, 11 century, there was a lovely young girl who lived in the Kalsa neighborhood in Palermo. Every day she used to spend time on the balcony of her house taking care of her plants and flowers. One day a young Moor passing by saw her and was captured by her beauty and declared his love to her, which was immediately returned. After some time, the girl discovered that her beautiful lover would soon have to leave her to return to his country where wife and children were waiting for him.

She decided then to plot her revenge: she waited for the night to come and while he was sleeping she beheaded him. What could she do with his head? She decided to use it as a vase for her lovely flowered balcony, so that her lover would stay with her forever.

She then planted some basilico which bloomed so beautifully that the whole neighborhood in Palermo copied the idea and made clay pots of the shape of a Moor head.

Mad talent

I stumbled upon this image on Pinterest and followed it to Old Ranch by Studio Shamshiri. Be prepared to dive deep into this site. They do some amazing interior design work. Get ready to up your Pinterest board to the next level!

My girl crush got married...

Garance Dore married Graham McTavish in a simple but totally spectacular way, obviously. Congratulations! Check it out.

Image from when I stalked her at trade show in 2014. I don’t usually dork out over a celebrity but I was a NERVOUS wreck asking her to take a photo with me. Evident in the sweaty side bang…

Saul Leiter

Saul Leiter was a photographer, painter and artist in NYC. He was most active in the 1950’s when he was shooting with expired Kodachrome 35mm film.

“I happen to believe in the beauty of simple things. I believe that the most uninteresting thing can be very interesting.”

Leiter later worked as a fashion photographer for ShowElleBritish VogueQueen, and Nova.

Willaim Eggleston

I found this in the NY Times Style Magazine. I know nearly nothing about this man - the “Godfather of color photography” but I see his influence in what catches my eye.

Architecture + Design film series

It’s finally back LIVE tonight at Contois auditorium. The film series is hosted by the Burlington City Arts and is a monthly event. As the days grow shorter and nights get chilly, it’s the perfect time to catch some great films.

It's not the end yet

I am making this tonight to celebrate summer. It may be cold and chilly today but I am not giving up just yet. Although I have started the fall turnover in my closet…

Local art

Burlington, Vermont artist, Rory Pots has been killing it. Not only are her mugs super but her stoneware lights are highly coveted.

Vermont is still covered in snow but this painting by Milton Avery seems to suit the season.

Looking for part deux

Our normally indoor cat escaped this morning & hasn't returned all day. He answers to "Squeaker" & is generally friendly. He may have a collar with a bell on it. His markings are all black except for his "bikini" (white on the chest & a bit on the tummy).

If he happens to come calling, can you let me know? He loves Cheetos too

My dad let my cat Groo out on Friday morning after the big snowstorm and he hasn't returned. We're on West Rd so he may be somewhere in the North Ave area or back by Tracy Drive. I think someone may have taken him in from the snow and he hasn't been able to come home.
He's a neutered orange/golden with long hair.
He's about 16 years old and pretty skinny.
He doesn't wear a collar and he's not chipped.
If you've seen him or have him in your care please let me know!

Dylan Johnston - On The Hunt

I have a subscription to The New York Times Cooking. One of my favorite things about it is the lifestyle suggestions at the end of the newsletter. From music to interesting articles - I seem to find something to take away besides a great recipe. I saw this the other day - photos from Dylan Johnston. What I liked was how he cropped the images or so I thought. Wrong - I clicked on one and it revealed that it was only cropped due to the limitations of the article. I like the cropped versions better.
